Er lijkt een einde te zijn gekomen aan de langlopende vete tussen Jumbo-Visma en Groupama-FDJ, al was er van Nederlandse kant al een tijdje geen sprake meer van enige spanning. Vanuit Franse kant was het niemand minder dan Thibaut Pinot die op Instagram met een geweldige foto de wielerwereld vermaakte.
Wat was ook alweer de situatie? Nou, Plugge had tijdens de Tour de France wat kritiek geuit op Groupama-FDJ, dat volgens hem in een hotel was gesignaleerd, met enkele renners aan het bier. 'Dat is vergif, helemaal als je moe bent. Groupama-FDJ reageerde via ploegbaas Marc Madiot als door een (killer)wesp gestoken. 'Het is zielig. Op iedere rustdag hebben we een moment van gezelligheid tussen de renners en de stafleden. De leiding drinkt dan een biertje, maar de renners niet per se. En als ze er al één hebben gedronken, gaat dat niet om halve liters. Ik zat aan tafel en daar stond louter water. Het is armoedig wat Plugge zegt, klein en armoedig.'

Toen de Tour de France eindigde in Parijs, nam Madiot nog even de moeite om met een bordje voor de Jumbo-Visma-bus te gaan staan. 'Een klein biertje voor Jumbo-Visma', stond erop in het Frans.
